Safety and safeguarding
Coaching is non-clinical. It does not replace medical care, mental-health treatment, safeguarding services or emergency support.
Who the current service supports
The current coaching service is for adults aged 18 or over who already hold a formal ADHD diagnosis. Motion for Mind does not assess or diagnose ADHD and does not currently provide direct coaching to children.
When confidentiality may be limited
Information shared in coaching is treated as confidential within the stated service and legal boundaries. If there is a serious concern about immediate harm, abuse, neglect, exploitation or another safeguarding risk, it may be necessary to share the minimum information required with an appropriate service. Where safe and lawful, the person will be told what is happening and why.
How concerns are handled
- Check whether anyone is in immediate danger and direct emergencies to 999.
- Record the concern factually and restrict access to authorised people.
- Seek consent where appropriate, recognising that a serious legal or safety concern may justify proportionate action without consent.
- Escalate to the relevant safeguarding, emergency or statutory service when required.
- Record the decision, action, outcome and necessary follow-up.
Online-session safety
At the start of an online coaching relationship, proportionate emergency location and contact arrangements may be agreed. Clients should join from a place where they feel safe and can speak privately. Sessions are not recorded unless a separate, explicit arrangement, lawful basis and genuine purpose have been agreed.
